Like any other Yorkie, White Yorkies are also cute and cuddly. Their small size makes it easy to hug and carry everywhere. It can also play and walk with others because it has the qualities of a dog. Like any other dogs, White Yorkie can recognize its masters. It is capable of caring and loving humans who shares their love and care. Apart from that, White Yorkie can also learn fast easy and possible tricks and skills imparted to them. It can communicate and can be useful in the household too because it can fetch your slippers and carry it to your feet.

As has been said, Yorkie having an inch or more of white coat is called White Yorkie. It does not necessarily require that the coat of the Yorkie is pure white to be called as such. This is done to distinguish Yorkies having two or more distinguishable hair. It is also worth noting that Yorkie has several breed and named according to their major hair color. Hence, for the need to distinguish Yorkie with white shades of their coat, the name White Yorkie suited them. More importantly, White Yorkie is natural breed and was not created through the use of artificial science.

Meanwhile, in the British community where terrier is believed to have originated, the residents used to bring their dogs at work. Eventually, they discovered the helpful use of their dogs at work. Since there were several breeds of dogs in the said community, there was irresistible breeding of other dogs. White Yorkie was discovered when Terrier was born with white hair. Through time, the many Yorkies were born with white coat. Since then, Yorkies having a white shade of their coats were referred to as White Yorkies. This is to easily identify the breed of Yorkies that are born. The birth of Yorkie coincides with the law of nature where breeding comes naturally. It can further be observed that White Yorkie does exist through the work of nature. The mere fact that they exist, controversies about White Yorkies should be closed.

Some yorkies drive their owners mad by chasing birds on the lawn, some by running up and down the garden fence when people or other dogs or vehicles go by.

What is the cure for this kind of behavior in a white yorkie?

Keep the dog in away from temptation. I find a vast number of people whose dogs have many vices prefer to grumble rather than remove the source of vice.

They obviously haven’t the skill to train their white yorkies, so they must do the next best thing and keep the dog out of the way of temptation.

Take for example the bitch that destroys everything in the house. There is a best way to stop it, and this is to confine her when you are not about in an indoor kennel lined with zinc. She can then do no manage.

If she never has a chance to destroy things, she forgets the vice, and it is a good bet that she will have grown tired of doing it when she is, again, given the run of the house.

I honestly believe that some dogs – white yorkies included – that chase things and tear things up have a mental disease. If firm training does not stop them, and giving them plenty of interest in life has no effect – then I think there is no cure.

I knew one Yorkshire terrier, aged 8 years then – used to chase his own tail like mad every morning. On his death he was found to have a tumor on the brain.

Obedience training in yorkies must not be termed as useless until the possibility of a mental disease in the dog has been eliminated, for however good you are at training them, a yorkie with a diseased brain will never respond.

Not everyone who starts obedience training is qualified to train problem dogs. Those who expect to send a white yorkie away and get it returned obedient are expecting too much, for it is the owner who must be trained.

The right person to train the dog is his owner. Others can help but the owner must do the job.

Many terrier enthusiasts – the open-minded ones, agree that the White Yorkie should be considered full bred. These dogs are being accepted as is. Most White yorkie owners cared not to disprove facts pertaining to this breed’s history further. Why?

Simply because they believe that terriers in general do have a rather obscure breed history. Yet there is one strong factor to consider about the White Yorkie: these dogs have the well-known terrier temperament.

Physically, they may appear a little ‘off’ in the sense of having an extra color of hair which is white; this should not be regarded as some type of notoriety in the breed.

There may be a reason or two as why the White Yorkie possess this remarkable white color. It could it be that the people responsible for breeding them wanted the yorkie appearance to be distinct. If this was the case for breeding them – what exactly were the other purpose?

It could also be that the White Yorkie was bred as the “boy-next-door” types, like Golden Retrievers. One might also ask, “are we really sure that the other descendant of the White Yorkie is of the Maltese breed?”

Since it has long been a history to trace the exact descendants of the White Yorkie along with other terriers whose great, great descendants remain unknown to this day makes it totally impossible for one to determine everything.

On the other hand, White Yorkie owners and other dog enthusiasts are also aware that this breed cannot be showcased in dog shows on the account of their apparent extra color.

Like teacup yorkies, they are so misconstrued. Since these dogs were bred with other types of terriers back in the day, I strongly believe that the White Yorkie should be validated, and recognized as a separate breed, yet fall in the terrier toy dog category.

Again, the White Yorkie should be considered full bred.

As long as the White Yorkie nowadays is bred from carefully selected White Yorkie parents – the result should be more than satisfying.

I would also like to add that genetic fault should not stop anyone from wanting to own a White Yorkie. If you see or heard of the White Yorkie being bred and sold for an impossibly high price – check their lineage.

I am quite sure these dogs’ parents are of cross breeds themselves and the owner has been taking advantage of the distinct, beautiful, and unique appearance just to make money by using the breed’s name, who knows?

The time it takes depends on the sharpness of your jerks and your skill as a handler. Having got your white yorkie walking better on the lead – you must now teach him to sit every time you stop.

This obviates any chance of the white yorkie causing you to be pulled into the road – should you suddenly stop on seeing a vehicle coming, for as you stop, however suddenly, your white yorkie sits.

Eventually your white yorkie becomes so well-trained that he doesn’t need the command ‘sit’ as you stop; he knows what to do. But this high degree of training will not be brought about in a week by the average white yorkie owner without experience.

White yorkie training does not have to be painful to the owner, nor the animal. To get your white yorkie to sit quickly and easily -your lead should be just of the right length, so that as you intend stopping you should place your lead, which is held in the right hand, up and over your right hip.

This anchors the white Yorkie’s head in an upward position and helps you to push him to the ‘sit’ with the free left-hand. This movement is done in ‘one-two’ time. Up with the right hand on the one, and down with the left hand on the two.

Now the correct position of the left hand should be this: your four fingers are facing away from your leg, and should be placed over the white Yorkie’s back, so that the two middle fingers are in his flank just in front of the hind leg.

The thumb should now be facing towards your own left leg and should also be placed lightly over the white Yorkie’s back. On your command ‘sit’, you should, of course, raise your right hand over your right hip and smartly pull the white yorkie down to the ‘sit’ while with the left-handed pull; your white yorkie will have got ahead of you and will then be sitting in front of you.

This is bad, because you would trip over him as you began to walk again. The secret of a tidy ‘sit’ beside you is speed; as you stop quickly, pull firmly with the left hand, and the right hand goes to your hip.

As one cannot stop lovers of white yorkies caressing white yorkies (or baby lovers kissing babies) one has to train the white yorkies to put up with it without showing annoyance, or trying to be too friendly.

It is always extremely annoying when you have trained white yorkies, and have put it down to the ‘sit’ or ‘down’ outside a store, to come and find a crowd round it trying to feed it on everything from bread to a yummy pie.

When one’s white yorkies are trained fully – it must, of course, refuse food of all sorts from anyone but its owner or owners.

Otherwise, there is always a risk that a burglar or some malicious person may poison it. On the other hand, there is the risk that white yorkies are so trained, on going to kennels while its owner is away, may refuse food.

This has happened and has been extremely worrying for the people concerned. I think if you are likely to leave your trained white yorkies a lot with strangers, it is best not to teach it to refuse food from other people.

Owners of boisterous white yorkies with bad manners who jump on greeting their owners, or visitors to the house, or even people in the street – these can be simply avoided by training white yorkies.

Other suggestions concern white yorkies that chew up on everything in the house, and which one daren’t leave alone a minute in a room without finding there is no longer a newspaper to read, or your slippers to wear.

Then there are white yorkies that bark incessantly at every one or anything, or the white yorkies that welcome everyone as though he were a long-lost friend.

There are also white yorkies that chase cars and bite postmen; horrid white yorkies that bite their owners; white yorkies that are only seen at mealtime, or when they want to be let into the house to sleep.

Lastly, there are white yorkies that soil the whole house when they feel like it, and who have therefore to be kept outside for health reasons, as no one should tolerate in the house white yorkies that are not house-trained.

Again – all these nuisances can be avoided by white yorkies’ training.
